The story of Amazon: Guardians of Eden takes place in 1957. You play as Jason Roberts, brother of renowned scientist Allen Roberts, who is doing research in a river basin in the Amazon jungle for a company named Allistar Research. Unbeknownst to Jason, something has happened at his brother’s base camp. The Amazon holds a dark secret. As he learns at work, his brother has gone mysteriously missing.
You begin your search at the office, retracing the steps your brother took before he went away and suddenly vanished. As the clues are put in place Jason realizes that there is something more to the story. In the quest to find your brother you have to go back to the jungle! But you are not alone, along the way, you meet Maya; a voluptuous vixen who aid you in your travels.
Amazon: Guardians of Eden is a classic 2D, 3rd person point and click adventure game. Similar to other adventure games it can be quite tricky to find everything you can click on so the tactic is to click on absolutely everything you possibly can! The controls are a little bit different then many are used to. You still use the mouse to select your actions but to move your character you use the keyboard. Within the game you will also be able to admire the cut scenes which are as photo-realistic as the VGA graphics will allow, making the whole experience of the game a lot better. This adventure game will have you sitting on the edge and lying awake at night until you finish the game and reveal the secret!
What happens or what occurs on the way on your adventure, is up to you. There is a lot of stuff to find and use so be watchful. Making too many mistakes and you can end up dead. Be careful with your actions and save often! But don't fret if you get into trouble, you can preset the hint system if you want. But is more fun and rewarding to try and muddle through the puzzles on your own.
To talk about underdogs, the Amazon: Guardians of Eden can offer you a really good adventure just as soon you get familiar with the controls and the idea of clicking all over the screen to find want you need. It is truly a romance-adventure suitable for everyone! In fact, it almost is worth a shaded smiley. However, I must deduct points for its chunkiness--it isn't terrible, but it isn't a smooth player either. Also, the hint system somewhat spoils the adventure part of this adventure game. It was probably included so that those who were stuck didn't bombard Access with hint-related questions. Finally, there is just no desirability to play this game over and over again, like other adventures. But overall, it is a great game.
