Do you like the Decent series? Then you will probably really like this! Radix: Beyond the Void is a 3D cockpit shooting game. Although in a side by side comparison the graphics are not as good as Descent, the gameplay is better in my opinion. This game has often been compared to Descent and many reviews across the Internet, and often Radix is tossed aside because the graphics are slightly lower. But the fact is Radix has much more varied gameplay than Descent and has different objectives in each level. Yup thats right! Its not just "blow up the reactor, and get out of there" type levels. Actually the briefings before the levels are done quite well, displaying your 2 main objectives, as well as secrets, weapons, level layout and new enemies you may encounter.
The plot is the basic and generic, aliens are taking over the world and your the last hope kind of thing. That aside the gameplay is wicked! The first time I booted up this game up it slapped a huge grin on my face....And really whats not to like? With aliens firing at you from all directions, a pumping rock-techno soundtrack in the background, and of course a crapload of sweet weapons, including: plasma cannons, bombs, upgradable machine guns, and homing missiles.
Another interesting fact I noticed about this game was that nearly everything is destructible, you can blow up nearly everything! Walls, computers, lights, and other items all give you a nice satisfying explosion with good Sound Blaster effects.
Aside from the depth and greatness in this game it really emerged as an underdog among Epic Mega-games's other stuff. Nevertheless its a great DOS classic that any 3d shooter fan should try.

Positive: Great fun, easy to play.
Negative: Poor plot, full game is hard to find.
